What are RocketReach Credits?

What are RocketReach credits?

Use this article to find out which credits your RocketReach plan includes, what each type of credit unlocks, and exactly which actions use them.

Who this article is for: all RocketReach customers on any plan, including free accounts.

A credit is what RocketReach charges when you access contact data. There are two main types — Lookup Credits and Export Credits — and which one an action uses depends on the action, not on your plan.

What is the difference between Standard and Premium Credits?

There are two main types of credit types, Standard and Premium

The difference is what data the credit unlocks. Standard Credits unlock email addresses only. Premium Credits unlock email addresses and phone numbers.

Standard Lookup Credit

Premium Lookup Credit

What it unlocks a verified email address at least one verified email address or phone number
Cost per contact One credit One credit
Available on Free, Starter/Loyalty, Essentials, Pro, Ultimate and API plans Base, Starter/Loyalty, Essentials, Pro, Ultimate and API plans
How to get phone numbers Not available — you need a +Phone plan Included

A Premium Credit costs the same as a Standard one. Unlocking a phone number does not use an extra credit. What changes is the data you have purchased with your subscription, not the credit per contact.

Receiving both an email address and a phone number for every contact is not guaranteed. A Premium Lookup Credit is used when a profile returns either one.

Which type of credits do I have?

The type of credits you have is highly dependent on the type of plan you have.  Some accounts hold both Standard and Premium Lookup Credits. Which one is spent depends on your contact preference setting.

Go to Account Settings, open Other Settings, and check the Lookup Type selection under Contact Preferences.

What is the difference between a lookup and an export?

A lookup reveals a person's contact information and stores it inside RocketReach. You are pulling data into the platform.

An export takes contact information out of RocketReach — downloading a CSV, sending data to an integration, Generating a list through Autopilot, enriching a list with a CSV upload, or retrieving it through the API or MCP. You are moving data somewhere else.

The distinction matters because most plans meter one of these more tightly than the other. A plan with unlimited lookups still has a limited number of exports.

Which credits does my plan include?

Most RocketReach plans meter either lookups or exports. Some plans include both types of credit. The table below shows what each plan type generally includes:

*Unlimited Lookups: what to know

If your plan includes *Unlimited Lookups, explore freely. We encourage you to perform as many lookups as you'd like — there's no lookup balance to manage and no credits to ration.

A fair use limit of 10,000 lookups per month. This exists to prevent abuse and protect service quality for all our customers. Most people never come close to it.

Which actions use which credits?

The table below lists every RocketReach action that can use a credit, and which type it uses. This is the complete list.

How many credits does one contact use?

One credit is used for each person profile that returns verified contact information. If no verified email address or phone number is found, no credit is used.

You are not charged twice for the same person. Once you have looked up a profile you keep access to that contact information without spending another Lookup Credit, and exporting a profile you have already exported does not spend another Export Credit.

The credit types in detail

Standard Credits

Unlocks: email addresses only.

Available on: Free, Starter, Loyalty, Essentials

One Lookup Credit is used for each person profile that returns at least one verified email address. For phone numbers you need a +Phone plan, which uses Premium Lookup Credits.

On paid monthly plans, credits refresh each billing cycle. On free accounts, credits are issued as three sets in total rather than on a recurring schedule — see “How do free accounts get credits?” above.

Premium Lookup Credits

Unlocks: email addresses and phone numbers.

Available on: Base, Starter+Phone, Loyalty+Phone, Pro, Ultimate, Custom, and API plans.

One Premium Lookup Credit is used for each person profile that returns at least one verified email address or phone number.

Receiving both an email and a phone number for every contact is not guaranteed.

Export Credits

Unlocks: taking people data out of RocketReach.

Available on: Annual Plans, Custom plans, and API plans.

One Export Credit is used for each contact with verified contact information that you export. Export Credits are consumed by CSV downloads, CSV uploads (data enrichment), Autopilot, integrations, the API, and MCP.

Company Export Credits

Unlocks: company data exported without associated contacts.

Available on: All plan types

Company Export Credits are a separate balance from Export Credits. They are required to download company data to CSV or export company records through the API.  All existing customer will have company exports included in their plan. The number of Company Exports you receive match your Lookup or Export limit depending on whatever is limited on your plan tier.

Do Export Credits have Standard and Premium versions?

Yes. Export credit types for Annual plans mirror the lookup type for that plan tier.

What an export contains depends on what your lookups unlocked, not on the export itself. If your plan uses Premium Lookup Credits, the contacts you export include phone numbers where they were found. If your plan uses Standard Lookup Credits, exports contain email addresses only.

Company Export Credits are a genuinely separate balance and are the one real exception. They are required for exporting company data without associated contacts, and are available on all plans.   The number of Company Exports you receive match your Lookup or Export limit depending on whatever is limited on your plan tier.

Where do I see my credit balance?

Click your initials in the top-right corner of any RocketReach page, select Account Settings, and look at the Usage section at the top of the Usage & Billing page.

If your account holds more than one type of credit, the Usage & Billing page lists each balance separately. How many credits do I have left? covers this in more detail.

How do free accounts get credits?

A free RocketReach account includes three sets of Lookup Credits in total. Free credits are not issued every month, and they do not continue indefinitely.

  • You receive your first set when you create your account.
  • You receive a second set, and later a third set, when you return to RocketReach after your previous credits have run out.
  • After the third set, no further free credits are issued.

The number of credits in each set varies, so check the Usage section of the Usage & Billing page in Account Settings to see your current balance.

Because the sets are issued when you come back rather than on a fixed schedule, the three sets may be spread over several months.

For example: you sign up and receive your first set; you return two months later and receive your second; you return the following month and receive your third; when you return three months after that, no free credits are issued.

What happens after my free credits run out?

Once you have received all three sets, you can continue using your free RocketReach account, but you will not receive more free credits.

To access more contact data, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.  Visit the Pricing Page to view current pricing www.rocketreach.co/pricing
