How do I Cancel my RocketReach Subscription?

How do I cancel my RocketReach subscription?

Use this article to cancel a paid RocketReach subscription, to find out what happens to your credits and data after you cancel, and to fix the problems that come up most often during cancellation.

Who this article is for: anyone with a RocketReach account. Which cancellation method applies to you depends on how your plan was purchased and whether you are the account owner, so start with the section below to identify your situation.

Which cancellation method applies to me?

How you cancel a RocketReach subscription depends on the type of plan you have and your role on it. The table below shows which method applies to each situation:

Your situation How you cancel
You bought a RocketReach plan online yourself Cancel it yourself from Account Settings
You have a free RocketReach account Nothing to cancel — free accounts have no subscription
You are a member of a Team Plan you do not own Leave the team from the Team Management page
You are the Owner or Admin of a Team Plan Remove individual seats yourself, or email support@rocketreach.co to cancel the whole plan
You have an Enterprise or Custom Plan bought through Sales Contact your Account Manager — self-serve cancellation does not apply

If you are not sure which type of plan you have, open Account Settings and select Usage & Billing. Your plan type and billing cycle are listed under Subscription Details.

How do I cancel a plan I bought online?

If you purchased your RocketReach plan online directly from the Pricing Page, you can cancel it yourself at any time, with no cancellation penalty. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your RocketReach account.

  2. Click your initials or profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.

    Access Account Settings

  3. In the left-hand menu, click Usage & Billing. This page shows your current subscription, your billing cycle, and your usage

Access Usage & Billing Section from Account Settings
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Usage & Billing page and find the Manage Subscription heading.

  5. Click Cancel Subscription to start the cancellation flow.
Cancel Subscription Button in Account Settings
  6. Work through the on-screen prompts until you reach the confirmation screen.

  7. Check that you receive both a confirmation screen and a confirmation email. Your cancellation is not complete until you have both.

You can also go straight to the cancellation flow by logging in and visiting the RocketReach cancellation page at rocketreach.co/cancellation.

How do I know my cancellation went through?

Your RocketReach cancellation is complete only when you have received both of the following:

  • A confirmation screen shown at the end of the cancellation flow.
  • A confirmation email sent to the email address registered on your account.

If you have only one of these, your subscription may still be active and you may be charged at your next renewal. Log back in and check Usage & Billing — if your subscription still shows as active, run through the cancellation flow again.

If your cancellation went through, the Cancel Subscription button is no longer there.

What happens after I cancel my subscription?

When you cancel a RocketReach subscription, you keep access to everything you have already paid for until the end of your current billing cycle. Cancelling does not cut off your access immediately.

  • You can keep using your remaining lookup credits until the current billing cycle ends.
  • You can check the exact date your subscription ends under Subscription Details in Usage & Billing.
  • When the paid period ends, any unused credits expire, and you lose access to My Contacts, My Companies, Autopilot, the API, and other features that are exclusive to paid plans.

The article What Happens When I Cancel my RocketReach Subscription? covers the end of the billing cycle in more detail.

Does cancelling delete my RocketReach account or my data?

No. Cancelling a RocketReach subscription ends the paid plan and services but leaves your account open. Your account reverts to a free RocketReach account, and you can still log in.

Can I resubscribe to RocketReach after cancelling?

Yes. You can start a new RocketReach subscription at any time from the Pricing Page once your plan ends.

Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?

Yes, if you have a monthly RocketReach subscription. You can pause it for up to three billing cycles instead of cancelling. Pausing stops billing temporarily while keeping your account and your unused credits intact, so it is the better option if you expect to come back.

Pausing is not available on annual subscriptions. The article What Happens When I Pause My RocketReach Subscription? explains how pausing works, and How do I Pause (Freeze) my RocketReach Subscription covers the steps.

I meant to buy monthly but bought annual — what can I do?

If you signed up for a new annual RocketReach subscription but intended to choose monthly, you may be able to switch to monthly within 7 days of your original purchase. Switching changes your billing cycle immediately and refunds the difference in price, so you do not need to cancel.

This applies only to brand-new annual subscription purchases. It does not apply to annual renewals. The article Accidentally Purchased an Annual Subscription? explains how to request the switch.

How do I cancel if I am on a Team Plan?

What you can cancel on a RocketReach Team Plan depends on your role. There are three different situations, covered separately below.

Leaving a Team Plan as a team member

If you are a member of a RocketReach Team Plan that you do not own, you can leave the team at any time. Go to the Team Management page in your account settings and click Leave Team.

Leaving a team takes effect immediately. As soon as you leave, you lose access to the credits and features that came with the Team Plan. You are not able to use them for the remainder of the billing period, so do not leave a team until you are ready to lose that access.

Removing a seat as a Team Owner or Admin

If you are the Owner or an Admin of a RocketReach Team Plan, you can remove individual seats from the plan. Removing a seat has two separate effects that happen at different times:

  • Access ends immediately. The person on that seat loses access as soon as you remove it, and any lookup credits remaining on that seat for the current billing period are forfeited. You are not refunded for the part of the period you have already paid for.
  • Billing changes at your next billing cycle. You continue to be billed for the current period as normal. From your next billing cycle onward, you are no longer charged for the removed seat.

Removing a seat is permanent. You cannot restore a removed seat. If you add a seat again later, RocketReach charges it as a new seat.

If you are replacing one team member with another, do not remove the seat. Unassign the person who is leaving and invite their replacement to the same seat instead. The seat stays on your plan for as long as you don't remove it, so there is no additional charge and nothing is forfeited. The article How to Assign or Re-Assign a Seat | Team Admin explains how.

Unassigning a user and removing a seat are different actions with different outcomes. Unassigning frees the seat while keeping it on your plan. Removing deletes the seat permanently and forfeits what remains on it for the current billing period. If you are unsure which you need, unassign — it is reversible, and removing is not.

Removing a seat is only the right action when you want to permanently reduce the size of your team.

Because credits on a removed seat are forfeited, RocketReach recommends removing seats near the end of your billing period rather than partway through it, once the credits on that seat have been used.

Cancelling an entire Team Plan

Cancelling a whole RocketReach Team Plan cannot be done in the product. Email support@rocketreach.co  from the Team Owner’s account email address and ask to cancel the Team Plan. Include your account email address and the request to cancel.

How do I cancel an Enterprise or Custom Plan?

If your RocketReach plan is an Enterprise or Custom Plan purchased directly from the RocketReach Sales team, the self-serve cancellation flow does not apply to your account, and you will not see a Cancel Subscription option in Account Settings.

Contact your RocketReach Account Manager, or email support@rocketreach.co , for help with either of the following:

  • Removing users from an Enterprise Plan.
  • Cancelling an Enterprise subscription.

If you do not know who your Account Manager is, email support@rocketreach.co  from your account email address and RocketReach Support will connect you with them.

Do I need to cancel a free account?

No. A free RocketReach account has no paid subscription attached to it, so there is nothing to cancel and you are not charged anything. Your free account stays open at no cost.

If you no longer plan to log in, you can deactivate your free account from Account Settings under Other Settings. The article I need to delete (or de-activate) my FREE account explains what deactivation does.

Will I get a refund when I cancel?

No. RocketReach does not issue refunds for subscription charges or renewal charges. Cancelling stops future charges but does not return money for the current billing period, which is why you keep access until that period ends.

There is one exception. If you bought a new annual subscription within the last 7 days and meant to buy monthly, you can switch to monthly and receive a refund of the price difference. This does not apply to annual renewals.

To avoid being charged again, complete your cancellation before your next renewal date. You can find that date under Subscription Details in Usage & Billing. The full RocketReach refund policy is at rocketreach.co/refunds.

Example: when your cancellation takes effect

Say your subscription renews on the 18th of each month.

If you cancel on the 10th — before your renewal date — you are not charged on the 18th. You keep access and your remaining credits until the 18th, and your subscription ends that day.

If you cancel on the 19th — after your renewal date — you have already been charged for the new period. You keep access and credits until the 18th of the following month, and your subscription ends then.

Either way, you keep everything you have paid for. The difference is whether you have already paid for the period you are in. To avoid being charged for another period, cancel before your renewal date — you can find it under Subscription Details in Usage & Billing.

Troubleshooting cancellation

The following questions cover the problems that come up most often when cancelling a RocketReach subscription.

Why can I not see the Manage Subscription or Cancel Subscription option?

There are four common reasons why the cancellation options do not appear in your RocketReach Account Settings.

Start by checking what this account actually is. Open Account Settings, select Usage & Billing, and look at Subscription Details.

  • If it shows a free account, this is not the account being charged. There is no subscription here to cancel. Find the account that holds the subscription — the section "I cancelled but I was still charged" explains how to search your email inboxes for it.

  • If it shows an active paid subscription but you still cannot find the Cancel Subscription button, scroll to the bottom of the Usage & Billing page and look under the Manage Subscription heading. You can also go directly to the cancellation flow at rocketreach.co/cancellation while logged in.

  • Logged into the incorrect account: The most common reason is that you are logged into a different RocketReach account than the one being charged. Many people have two without realising — a work address and a personal address, an email alias, or a sign-up with a slightly different spelling.

  • If it shows a Team Plan and you are not the Owner, you cannot cancel the plan. Only the Team Owner can do that. You can leave the team yourself from the Team Management page, or ask your Team Owner to cancel.

  • If it shows an Enterprise or Custom Plan, cancellation is not available in the product. Email support@rocketreach.co from your account email address, or contact your Account Manager.

If none of these describe what you see, email support@rocketreach.co with your account email address, the date and amount of the charge, and the billing descriptor from your bank or card statement. That descriptor is usually enough for us to locate the account the charge belongs to.

I cancelled but I was still charged — what should I do?

RocketReach does not charge cancelled accounts. If you have been charged after cancelling, one of two things has happened: the cancellation did not finish, or the charge came from a different RocketReach account.

A cancellation only completes when you reach the confirmation screen at the end of the flow and receive a confirmation email. If you started the flow but closed the page partway through, the subscription stays active even though it looked like you had cancelled.

To find out which applies:

  1. Log in and open Account Settings, then select Usage & Billing.

  2. Look at Subscription Details at the top of the page.
    • If your subscription shows as active, the cancellation did not complete. Run through the cancellation flow, and this time continue until you reach the confirmation screen.
    • If it shows as cancelled or free, this account is not the source of the charge. Continue to step 3.

  3. Scroll to Billing History at the bottom of the same page and look for the charge.
    • If the charge is not listed, it came from a different RocketReach account.

How to find your other RocketReach account

Second accounts are easy to create without realising — a work address and a personal address, an email alias, or a sign-up that used a slightly different spelling.

The quickest way to find one is to search your email. In each inbox you use, search for rocketreach.co and look for receipts, renewal notices, or sign-up confirmations. The address a message was delivered to is the address that account is registered under. Check any secondary or personal inboxes as well as your main one, and search archived and deleted mail, since older receipts are often filed away.

Once you know the email address, log in to that account and cancel the subscription from Usage & Billing.

If you cannot find it, email support@rocketreach.co with the date and amount of the charge, and the last 4-digits of the payment method used, and any email addresses you may have signed up with. We will help you find the account and cancel it.

Will cancelling stop an annual subscription from renewing?

Yes. Cancelling a RocketReach subscription stops it renewing at the end of the current billing cycle. You keep access until that cycle ends, and you are not charged again afterwards. Check your renewal date under Subscription Details in Usage & Billing and complete your cancellation before that date.
