How to Check Your Messages Activity

Email messages that you send while using RocketReach are summarized for an easy review of activity metrics.

📑 In this article - click to jump to section:

Where to View Messages Activity

From the left-hand side navigation, locate and select the Messages section. The new page will open on the Activity area by default.

Across the top are tiles showing stats that add up your total activity in RocketReach:  how many email messages have been sent, clicked, replied to, or bounced. (In some cases, the recipient may block tracking of clicks and replies; in this case, the activity cannot be reported here.)

Below the activity tiles is an activity list, showing a log of the Messages activity. Selecting a tile will filter the list and show only the selected type of activity. For example, selecting "Clicked" will show you only the Message history where RocketReach identified a click activity, including the timestamp for the click.

Where to View Email Replies

RocketReach acts only as a sender and does not have an inbox where you can see incoming emails. Please open your typical email app and search the inbox for email replies. You may also want to check any automatic sorting rules, junk box, and spam filtering on your email account that may impact where email replies are received.

💡 EXPERT TIP:  An automated system classifies the "replies" and in some cases it may incorrectly show a "reply" in RocketReach when actually it was an auto-responder or a postmaster notification (i.e. inbox is unavailable). If you're expecting a reply but can't find it, try sending another email or even a follow up call.

Why is Open Email Tracking Disabled?

Cold emailing best practices have shifted since September 2024 in response to changes by Google's and Microsoft's email services.

Following these changes, many groups have investigated how the use of pixels to track email opens impacts email campaigns. Findings include lower delivery rates, lower reply rates, higher spam rates, and even potential harm to sender domain reputations.

👉 RocketReach Messages sent without open tracking had a reply rate of 6.24%, compared to only 2.21% when open tracking was enabled. This means users who did not track opens received nearly 3x more replies!

As of January 2025, Open Email Tracking will no longer be available for emails that you send with RocketReach Messages. This change aligns with the larger industry as most cold contact platforms now recommend to not use tracking pixels in cold emails.

The setting remains visible in the Mailbox Settings page, but the toggle is locked in the "off" position for all users and cannot be changed. Also, the 'Opens' metric has been removed from the Activity page to minimize confusion.

💡 In the future, we would like to enable open tracking for customers who setup their own custom tracking domain. If this is something you'd be interested in, please let us know! success@rocketreach.co
