How to Create and Use Company Tags
For greater visibility and control over which companies are represented in your contact list, start your project from Company Search. By identifying individual companies and/or building a list of selected companies, you can power highly targeted and personalized campaigns.

What are Company Tags?
Company Tags are exactly that: a tag that you've applied to selected companies. By applying one or more Tags or Team Tags to Companies that you've saved, you're able to quickly create custom lists of companies. Tags are flexible and completely customizable so that you can use Tags however makes sense for you:
- Filter to employees of your frequently referenced companies
- Monitor job changes at your target accounts
- Explore new markets
- Align with your team to avoid overlap or duplicate outreach
- Organize projects, and more!
How can I make a company list?
Creating a company list with tags takes only a few minutes, it's easy! You can create a list in bulk by uploading a CSV, or create a list manually following the steps below.
- From the Search area, select the tab for 'Companies' in the top left.
- At the top right locate the active Tag area. Select an existing Tag, or click the + button to add a new Tag. Type in the name you want to use for the Tag, then select the ✓ button to save it.
- The Tag shown in this area indicates which Tag will be applied when you click the 'Add Company button.
How do I use Company Tags?
Company Tags are versatile and can be used in multiple ways:
- Set a company tag as a filter when using People Search.
- Use Autopilot with a company tag to generate a list of contacts.
- Add companies to a "Done" list to save a historical log of companies that you've researched/prospected.
- Use Team Tags on companies to collaborate with your team members on RocketReach. Learn More
Using a 'Company Tag' on Person Search will filter to show only employees of the tagged companies.
Can I change the companies in a tag?
Yes, Tags and the Companies they are applied to can be edited freely as needed to grow and change with your business.
From 'My Companies' in the left navigation, you can see all of your saved companies. Go to 'Manage Tags' in the top right corner to see all of your company tags and how many companies are tagged in each:
As you look at the companies in the list view, click any company to open the details pane. The applied tags will be shown at the bottom. You can click the small '×' to remove the tag, or use the selector to apply other tags.
How to rename a company tag
To change the name of a company list, first go to 'My Lists' in the left-hand menu, then select the 'Manage Tags' link on the far right.
From here all of your company lists will be shown in the left column. If necessary, use the arrows at the bottom to scroll and see more tags, or change how many tags are shown per page.
Once you locate the tag that you want to rename, click on where you see the pencil icon. The text field will become editable; make your changes then press the Enter key on your keyboard to save.
How to delete a company tag
To delete a company tag that you no longer need, first go to 'My Companies' in the left-hand menu, then select the 'Manage Tags' link on the far right.
From here all of your company tags will be shown in the left column. If necessary, use the arrows at the bottom to scroll and see more tags, or change how many tags are shown per page.
Once you locate the list that you want to delete, click the trash can icon on the far right. A confirmation window will be shown; click the button 'Delete Tag' to finish.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Deleting cannot be undone, so please be sure before deleting!
Deleting a company tag will automatically remove it from any companies where it was in use.
