General Setup Overview
The exact setup steps will vary depending on the AI tool that you want to connect. However, in general you’ll follow this process:
- In your AI tool, find the connectors area (often in Settings or Apps) and add a new custom connector.
- When prompted, copy and paste this connection URL:
https://mcp.rocketreach.co/mcp - When the AI tool redirects you to RocketReach, sign in to the appropriate RocketReach account and confirm your consent.
That's it! You're ready to go. A good first prompt is to ask the AI about your new app integration (for example: "check if the RocketReach MCP is connected").
You can easily remove the connection anytime by going to the MCP page in RocketReach and clicking the “Disconnect” button next to the desired app.
Important Reminders:
- RocketReach MCP can be connected to any AI tool that supports MCP.
- Access to MCP is included with all RocketReach plans, including free trial.
- Accessing contact data via MCP connection counts as an export activity and will use your RocketReach Export Credits if your plan includes Export Credits.
- If your AI tool has a paid plan and limited tokens, please reference your AI provider's documentation for further information about how using MCP may impact token usage.
ChatGPT Connection Steps
If you previously setup RocketReach MCP as a custom connector, it is not required to install the new official app.
1: Log into RocketReach
Start by checking that you're logged into the correct RocketReach account. Visit the Account Settings page to confirm that you see your RocketReach credits.
🪙 Reminder! If your plan includes Export Credits, using MCP to access contacts will consume Export Credits.
2: Log into ChatGPT
In another browser tab, go to ChatGPT > Apps and search for RocketReach, or simply click the link here.
Click the 'Connect' button:
3: Approve Connection
ChatGPT will show you a prompt to sign-in on RocketReach; please click the button to continue. You will then see a confirmation from RocketReach that you are sharing access – double-check that it is the real "Verified Official" ChatGPT app, then click 'Approve' to finish.
You're all set! You can now leverage RocketReach company & person profiles in combination with any other data that you pull into ChatGPT (including web search).
4: (Optional) Configure Permissions
After approval, ChatGPT will return you to the RocketReach app page in ChatGPT. You can click 'Start chat' to immediately start using, or click the 'Settings' menu (gear icon) to access app settings.
By default, the app starts on "Allow low-risk" meaning ChatGPT will automatically proceed for most actions, but in some cases it may send you a message asking for permission to continue:
You can change this setting any time by returning to Settings > Apps > RocketReach.
Claude Connection Steps
Temporary steps! The RocketReach MCP is new, and we're currently awaiting addition to Claude's connector directory.
1: Log into RocketReach
Start by checking that you're logged into the correct RocketReach account. Visit the Account Settings page to confirm that you see your RocketReach credits.
🪙 Reminder! If your plan includes Export Credits, using MCP to access contacts will consume Export Credits.
2: Log into Claude
Log into your Claude account and navigate to 'Customize' (main navigation) then 'Connectors', or simply click the link here. Near the top of the new window, click the 'Add' button and select 'Add Custom Connector'.
*Note: If you are on a team plan in Claude and do not see the option to add custom connector, it may have been disabled by your administrator.
3: Create Claude Connector
In the window, type in "RocketReach" in the first field, then in the second field paste: https://mcp.rocketreach.co/mcp
Then click the 'Add' button to continue. (You can skip the OAuth fields as they will be handled automatically in the next step).
4: Approve Connection
For the final step, you'll see an approval message from RocketReach. Please first double-check that it is the real "Verified Official" Claude app, then click 'Approve' to finish.
Ready! Now Claude will automatically utilize RocketReach tools when it judges that the task would benefit from verified contact data.
5: (Optional) Configure Permissions
In Claude's 'Connectors' area, you can open the RocketReach connector to review Claude's permissions. Since "Lookup" actions will use credits, you may prefer to keep these as "Needs approval". Overall you'll have the fewest interruptions and most speed if you choose "Always allow".
Setup FAQ
❓ Does it matter which AI I use?
Absolutely. Every conversational AI has its own abilities and quirks. No matter which AI you use, the RocketReach data is the same; however, your ability to interact and see the data is primarily controlled by the AI platform. (If you care, during internal testing we unanimously felt Claude provided the best experience.)
❓ The AI that I use is not listed here.
RocketReach MCP can be connected to any AI tool that supports MCP, including Copilot, Cursor, and Windsurf. The easiest way to confirm is to ask your AI tool: Can I connect an MCP? Give me instructions.
Note: At this time, Gemini does not support MCP, so RocketReach cannot be integrated to Gemini.
❓ Do I need a paid plan account?
Most AI platforms do not require a paid plan to connect MCP, but there are some exceptions. You do not need to purchase a RocketReach subscription to use RocketReach MCP. However, please keep in mind that as a free or trial user you will receive only a limited number of credits to exchange for contacts.
❓ Do the account email addresses need to match?
No, it's ok if you use different email addresses for your RocketReach login and your AI tool login. The RocketReach MCP uses OAuth, which just means that a secure connection is made without either side needing to share passwords. Neither side cares what your registered email address is; however, for your own organization you may find it helpful to use the same email address.
