Messages: Connecting Outlook
Outlook users can optionally send emails with RocketReach Messages tools without needing to switch apps. Behind the scenes, RocketReach works with the Microsoft API to enable the tightest integration and so your emails look like they came directly from you.
This integration requires certain levels of permissions in order to work. For security purposes, many organizations requires an administrator to review and authorize apps and app permissions before employees can use them.
If you're seeing a "Needs admin approval" message (example below), you will need to receive approval from an administrator for your Microsoft account.
💡 Quick note: This article applies to users of various Microsoft suite services. For simplicity's sake, this article will use simply "Microsoft" or "Outlook" to refer specifically to email tools. More technically, the correct product names include Microsoft 365 (previously Office 365), Microsoft Entra (previously Azure AD), and Microsoft Outlook (the email service, not necessarily the same thing as the "Outlook" app).
How to Resolve
Please connect with your organization's Microsoft admin and make them aware that you would like to use RocketReach for sending email through your Microsoft Outlook mailbox. Ask them to review and grant access to RocketReach.
A Microsoft admin will need to complete the following steps:
- Login to the Microsoft Entra admin center.
- In the left side menu, go to Entra ID > Enterprise apps.
- Search for "RocketReach" and select the RocketReach app in the list of results.
- In the left side menu, go to Permissions.
- Click the big blue button "Grant admin consent" and "Accept" on the following confirmation window.
What to Expect
Once your Microsoft admin confirms that the permissions have been granted, you can try again to connect your mailbox through the Outlook connection on the Mailbox setup page.
- If the required permissions have been granted, you will not see the "Needs admin approval" message again.
- If you continue to encounter the "Needs admin approval" message, it means that your Microsoft admin has not approved the required permissions and you will not be able to use the Microsoft integration.
